Kappa Gamma,
Here is my response to the questions . . .
AEA,
Doug
*****************************************************************
1. What does the word Brotherhood mean to you?
Brotherhood is a term that I don't use lightly anymore. It means a
bond with a person who has similar background or common interest that
sets you two (or more) apart from others in a special and unique
sense. A brother is a person who watches your back while you watch
his/hers. It is also a supportive person who listens and gives
criticism on a needed basis only or in a positive sense, not to
intentionally cut down on a person simply for selfish purposes or to
hear themselves speak. A brother must respect another person's views.
You can't always judge your brother(s) on face value. Brothers are
people who you must give a chance to prove themselves, without
superiority complexes or popularity contests getting in the way.
Each member of the brotherhood should look out for each other and
the organization as a whole. That is what I feel is included in the
term "brotherhood".
2. How have you benefitted from being a Brother of Kappa Kappa Psi?
I have shared in the bond and further developed relationships with my
friends from Lehigh musical organizations to the point where I can
call some of them "brothers".
3. What aspect of your Membership Education was most memorable?
Studying for my MC tests with Andy Duque on Sunday afternoons. Also,
the interviewing processes and finding out little facts about everyone
in the brotherhood that I probably wouldn't have asked on my own.
4. What aspect of your Membership Education benefitted you the most?
Learning the purposes of the fraternity and the history behind Kappa
Gamma mainly. That is the stuff that I still remember and is most
relevant to me.
5. Does being a Brother of Kappa Kappa Psi benefit you musically?
I don't know how to answer this question.
6. What kind of relationship do you have with your Big Brother?
Sean Treacy and I shared a house with three others for one semester
after I was initiated into the fraternity. In those three months, we
got to know each other better and become better friends. I haven't
seen him much since he left the Lehigh Valley, but when he comes back,
it is always good to see him.
PS - Have a nice day!!
