We reviewed the email we received from Deb Eakins (NED Governor) about
the Governor's Cup award.

---
Brothers,

I hope this finds everyone getting through the fall academic semester
without major incident and that all is well with your respective bands,
chapters and membership classes. I understand from some of you that we
have really wonderful things happening across the district!

I'd like to take a moment to encourage each chapter to think about
nominating another chapter for the Northeast District Governor's cup
which recognizes the most improved chapter in the district. It doesn't
have to be a chapter that went from rags to riches, it can be a chapter
which has met with some adversity or a chapter that simply has shown
improvement and the ability to strive for the highest.

The details from the NED Constitution for the nomination/award follow.

I know there are many chapters in our district who are improving and
striving for higher goals, I hope that you will consider these chapters
for the honor of competing for the Governor's Cup.

18.01 The Governor’s Cup for the Most Improved Chapter shall be
presented according to the following guidelines:
     a. A letter of nomination must be sent to the District
Governor and District Member-at-Large by November 15 of the year before
the District Convention at which the award would be presented.
     b. A chapter may be nominated by their sponsor, their band
director, another chapter, or the District Council. A chapter may
nominate no more than one (1) other chapter.
     c. The District Member-at-Large shall notify, in writing, by
December 1, those chapters nominated and of the exact details of the
application. The application shall include the two (2) most recent Fall
Activity Reports, the most recent Chapter Summary Report, and a
recommendation from the Chapter Sponsor.
     d. Completed applications must be returned to the District
Governor(s) by February 15 of the year of District Convention. At the
discretion of the District Governor(s), this award need not be given.

Thanks for all that you are doing as chapter leaders in our great
fraternity. Please share this request with the brothers in your
chapter.

I look forward to hearing from each of you as to how things are going
this semester.

AEA,

Deb

Here are the points that we decided to expand on:
1. Precincts - a new chapter hosting a very successfuly precinct
meeting, and had no support from a TBS chapter.

2. Service Projects - Ushering, Broughal, Day Care Center, Instrument
Drive

3. Kappa Gamma planning on holding fundraisers just for giving $ to our
bands.

4. More interaction with-in our chapter and with other chapters.

5. MEP - "importance of PIE" verses just having PIE because we have to?
also the big little relationship more structured.

6. Organization - Kappa Gamma is leaving its learning phase and is now
entering its optimization stage. We are working with the constitution,
making it less vague and adding service, fundraising requirements etc.
also forming the awards committee to handle district awards and also to
hand out individual awards at the end of the year, and also "Brother of
the Month"

With that said, i wrote up requests to several brothers/alumni asking
for some input on the events that they were involved in. and gave them
to professor Diggs. he will draft a letter and get it back to us asap.

next meeting will be Oct. 30, 4pm to discuss the brother of the month.
