Usenet 09/14/01 13:00 Meeting Minutes 6-12-01

From: Kate Lausch

Minutes from 6/12/01

Meeting called started at 8:45 PM after the Chi O girls left my apartment.

Present (in order of appearance): Kate Lausch, Mike Dammer, Madhusha
Dissanayake, Amy Meisner, Lauren Garlett, EJ Walsh, Pete Matt
Excused (in order of excuse): Eudora Weaver, Rachel Goodman

General Ideas:

Lauren suggested that we try to give brothers and band members more
advanced notice of events so that people can set up/change their schedules
accordingly.

It was also suggested that we try to make the events scattered throughout
the week. (It was mentioned that in the past all the events were, for
example. on Mondays.) This would make it easier for busy people to make
it to as many events as possible.

Collectively we decided that there should be two events a month, one for
brothers and one for brothers AND non-brothers.

It was stated that we should work with the MEP committee to try to plan
rush events.

We NEED to, HAVE to, REALLY, REALLY SHOULD get the travel paddle back to
Lock Haven.

Old Event Ideas:

Ultimate Frisbee/Football: This will be held on Sunday, September 30th,
at 2:00 PM on Maginness Lawn. An announcement will be made to brothers at
the meeting and to band members of the supported bands

Bowling: Pete suggested that we make this a tournament event. There was
discussion. The compromised conclusion was that we invite everyone as if
it were a fun bowling event and then once there, ask if anyone would like
to participate in a tournament. We could split into two groups,
essentially, but still all be there together.

Brotherhood Dinners: Lauren suggested that we have a place in mind BEFORE
we announce the event to the brothers. There will be a more definite
answer this way.

Formal: There was discussion about how this should be planned earlier in
the year, i.e. before Winter Break. It was also suggested that we do NOT
hold the formal on a Sunday.

Ice Skating: And everyone was happy.

Picnic: It was suggested to me prior to the meeting that we make this a
family picnic. I relayed this message and it went over well. This will
have to be a spring event due to weather.

Miniature Golfing: This was already held VERY informally in early
September. Should we do this again? (That to be answered in the future.)

New Ideas:

Brotherhood Potluck Dinner: Inspired by the Big-Little Dinner held at 473
last year, this might be a good event to bring all brothers together. We
could hold this outside, at a house (there was discussion about if all
house members are NOT brothers), or find a room, for example, in the UC.

Sports Event: Pete suggested going to a game (professional or
otherwise). Everyone liked this idea except for Pete. (Note: There is
no typo in this entry.)

Pool Party: This suggestion uplifted many Ooooooo, yeahs from the crowd.
Amy (a lifeguard and work-study employee at the pool) will ask the
administration about such things as: time for reservations, if a deposit
would be needed and if so at what cost, amount of maximum people, and
whether a lifeguard would have to be from outside the said party, i.e.
could Amy still lifeguard without having to be an outcast.

Closing:

Sorry this is a bit overdue. I was waiting for the board to be up and
running.

Meeting ended about 9:20. We all walked to ZAC semi-together, except for
Pete and EJ because Pete is lazy and EJ is a ZAC....
